Year-round attractions
Castle
Koldinghus
A medieval royal castle that burned in 1808 and is now a museum with views over the castle lake and the city.
Art and design
Trapholt
A museum of art, design and crafts on Kolding Fjord. Arne Jacobsen’s prototype summer house, Kubeflex, stands in the park.

Geographical Garden
A garden with plants from around the world, arranged by geography, in the north of the city.
Nature
Kolding Fjord
Paths and views along the fjord, close to Trapholt.
LEGOLAND and Lalandia
Kolding is a good base for a trip to Billund. By car it is about 40 minutes to LEGOLAND and Lalandia, and in high season it is often cheaper to stay in Kolding than next to the parks. Note that LEGOLAND closes for winter after the autumn season, while Lalandia’s water park is open all year. Check opening hours for your date before you buy.
Free things to do
- The castle lake (Slotssøen) and the streets around Koldinghus.
- Kolding Fjord with paths along the water.
- Kolding Library: free dinner and food fun with Mette Blomsterberg on Tuesday 3 November at 16:30 (in Danish).
