- Kastellet and Langelinie: walk round the ramparts and on to The Little Mermaid.

With kids and on rainy days
With kids, the National Aquarium Denmark (Den Blå Planet) in Kastrup and Copenhagen Zoo in Frederiksberg are safe bets all year. Den Blå Planet is a few minutes’ walk from Kastrup metro station, so it fits well before or after a flight. On rainy days, the National Museum and Experimentarium in Hellerup are the best indoor options for school-age children. Tivoli is best for families during its seasons, and the Christmas season opens on Friday 13 November.
Where the venues are
- KB Hallen: Peter Bangs Vej in Frederiksberg. Nearest station: Peter Bangs Vej (S-train).
- Royal Arena: Ørestad, a few minutes from Ørestad metro station (M1).
- VEGA: Enghavevej in Vesterbro, walking distance from Enghave Plads (M3).
- Amager Bio: Øresundsvej on Amager, near Øresund metro station (M2).
- Rust and ALICE: Nørrebro, around Sankt Hans Torv and Nørre Allé.
- Copenhagen Opera House: Holmen, across the harbour from Amalienborg. Harbour bus or a walk over Inderhavnsbroen.
Getting around
The metro runs 24 hours a day, and line M2 links Copenhagen Airport with Kongens Nytorv in about 15 minutes. M3 (the City Circle Line) connects Central Station, City Hall Square, Frederiksberg and Nørrebro. Buy tickets in the DOT Tickets app, with a Rejsekort or from the machines at the stations. Trains from Jutland and Funen run straight to Copenhagen Central Station, and Tivoli is right across the street. Planning a day trip to Sweden? See Copenhagen to Malmö.
Where to stay
For a concert at KB Hallen or VEGA, Vesterbro and Frederiksberg are practical. For Royal Arena, a hotel in Ørestad is close to the metro to both the centre and the airport. Stay in the inner city and you can walk to Tivoli, Strøget and Nyhavn.
